Lynn Reaser is the Chief Economist at Bank Of America. She observes and studies the national, international, and regional developments in financial markets and drives the decisions for BOA's investing.

Barnes & Noble Coming To The Pavilion In Port Orange

Barnes & Noble is opening shop in Port Orange in 2009. The store will be located at The Pavilion in Port Orange. The Pavilion will be an upscale shopping destination for Port Orange and Daytona Beach residents. This new commercial project is scheduled to be completed in early 2009. Other businesses that will be included at The Pavilion include, Belk Department Store, a theatre, office space, and many restaurants. This project will be located next to I-95 off of Williamson and close to the food service company.

Port Orange and Daytona Beach Golf Course Update

I' ve recently played a few golf courses in the Port Orange area. Many courses are in great shape and I have decided to note a few courses that I feel are in superior shape and ready for great play.

  • Cypress Head Golf Course - The fairways are incredible and the putting greens are almost immaculate. These greens are quick!
  • Spruce Creek Fly In Course - This course is showing much improvement since the condition of the course during the summer. The greens are great and the fairways are sharp!
  • Turnbull Bay Golf Course - I played this course during the summer and i was really disappointed. I am pleased to say that this course is now in fantastic shape and super challenging!

Florida Real Estate News - October

Worries in the real estate market still continued to hamper the Florida market this past October.  

According to the Florida Association of Realtors, sales of existing single-family homes totaled 9165, a sharp drop off of 29 percent from one year before, October 2006, when 12,846 of these homes were sold.   

National figures show a decrease in these figures as well, albeit a much smaller decline.  In September 2007 these homes median selling price fell 4.9 percent when compared to one year ago.   

With fewer houses being sold, prices have dropped in an effort to lure buyers.  In October, Florida’s median selling price for existing single-family homes was $222,100.  One year ago this figure was at a robust $247,700, or an eight percent…
