UPDATE: Ground has finally broke on the 162,000 square-foot shopping center that will house BJ’s Wholesale Club, as well, an LA Fitness Gym and other businesses in the future. It will be located Dunlawton Avenue and Taylor Road, next to Golden Corral. This project will also see the extension of Yorktown Boulevard to connect Dunlawton Avenue and Taylor Branch Road to help lessen the traffic load in that area. BJ's currently has over 180 locations in 15 states. This membership club features electronics, office supplies, home goods, seasonal, sports, toys, health, jewelry, gas, groceries, and much more. Membership fees start at $50.00 per year. Different club options include Inner Circle, Business, and BJ's Rewards. One day passes are also available. Construction of BJ’s is expected to be completed by May 2013.

The proposed location is off of Dunlawton just east of Taylor Rd.

This is wonderful news for those of us who have been held captive here for years by Sam's Club. Sam's has never had any competition. They have shown that they could care less about their customers by charging gas prices that actually exceeded the competition!
I've been to the BJ's in Sanford and the variety is far better than at Sam's. In the deli department alone, there is the ability to purchase provisions and cheeses by the pound that are sliced by real people. It's wonderful! They have BBQ chickens, ribs and turkey breasts. There is more variety in the seafood department including better choices for smoked salmon and they have whitefish salad that Sam's refuses to carry.
I cannot wait for them to open. I will wait the 6 more months rather than renew with Sam's. BJ's is hoping to open before Thanksgiving. I am so done with Sam's. Do yourselves a favor and get a day pass to BJ's in Sanford to see the differences before you waste your money renewing with Sam's. No, Bj's is not Costco, but it is far, far better than Sam's.

BJ's will have gas. It will be located west of the store closer to the LA Fitness and south of Golden Corral.

Read in the News Journal yesterday plans are to lay concrete pad within 2 to 3 weeks, {dec. 15th?} and to be open somewhere between March and May 2013.
