It's January In Daytona Beach. Not Feeling It?Posted by Kevin Kling on Friday, January 18th, 2013 at 2:13pm.
I’m sure you may have noticed, that even by Florida standards, it’s warm out there! As we work our way into winter in Central Florida, we, like the rest of the country are experiencing higher than average temperatures. Up north and other areas that are used to snow and the bitter cold are surely enjoying the small reprieve, but for the Daytona Beach area, it seems like business as usual. The sunny skies and 80 degree days may have you forgetting it’s January, and maybe that’s not such a bad thing. Get out and enjoy it while you can!
The Beach - While the coastal waters have cooled considerably since the summer, they are still averaging around 70 degrees, which is comparable to temperatures of local Springs like Blue Springs or DeLeon. With the limited cloud cover we’ve been enjoying, the beach area is still a great option for fun in the sun and will be considerably less crowded than in the summer months.
Top down, windows open - With this great weather, it’s time to uncover the convertible car or maybe bring out a vintage automobile that doesn’t have A/C or heat, because heck, you don’t need it. Let the wind whip your hair and enjoy leisurely drives along the coast of the Daytona Beach area. This can also be cost-effective, saving yourself some gas mileage by using the natural air conditioning.
Exercise - One drawback to staying fit in the winter months or adherring to those New Years Resolutions is often the frigid temperatures that keep us inside or the unmotivating overcast skies. With the warm, welcoming weather we are experiencing, there is no excuse not to get outside and enjoy Mother Nature in Central Florida. Take a walk, jog, or bike or visit one of the many area parks and have a cookout.
