Rolex 24 Rolls Into Daytona Beach

It’s that time of year again. Time for the twenty-four hours of pure racing excitement as some of the worlds best drivers descend on Daytona International Speedway for the 51st Rolex 24 at Daytona next weekend. This long distance race for sports cars starts Saturday January 26th at 3:30pm and runs through the next day as drivers team up in groups of three or more to split the large time frame of the race. The drivers, which include NASCAR and Formula 1 stars such as Juan Pablo Montoya, Jamie McMurray, A.J. Allmendinger and many more, will tackle the tough 3.56 mile road course that incorporates portions of the tri-oval at DIS as well as infield portions. The sports cars are broken into three categories for this endurance race that will draw thousands of fans in search of competitive racing and great fun.

As the race moves into its 51st year, the excitement could not be greater. With the addition of a new class, GX, to the two standard classes Daytona Prototype (DP) and Gran Turismo (GT), the competition this year is sure to thrill. While the manufacturer Porsche holds the most overall victories in the event with 22, there are many new drivers and manufacturers vying to make a name for themselves in the racing world. But many eyes will be on arguably the best current racer in this type of event, Scott Pruett, who will be driving a BMW in search of his 5th overall victory which would tie Hurley Haywood for the most all time. With so many different variables and ever-changing drivers, the Rolex 24 at Daytona is an event you don’t want to miss.

Tickets for this event are still available and come with several pricing options. There is a 4-day option that includes garage access for only $85 as well as 2-day options for the grandstands or infield which are $35-40. Another popular option for this event is the camping options in the infield where you can bring an RV or even a tent so you don’t have to miss a second of the exciting action.
