According to a recent national news report, Florida was named one of the top 10 best states for early retirement. This may come as little surprise to most, since Florida is often associated as a retirement destination that draws flocks of snowbirds each year. But the more interesting aspect of the report is that Florida was ranked just 9th best on this list. While the obvious reasons for retiring in Florida, such as warm weather and lack of a state income tax were mentioned, the factor that held Florida down on this list seemed to be a high cost of living.
