Best Time to Sell? Study Says Mid-April

best time to sell home or condo

Both buyers and sellers have been known to try to “time” the real estate market, hoping to find the most opportune season to either strike a great deal or earn the highest possible sale price. There are many factors to consider when trying to decide on the best time to buy or sell, including geographical location, the status of the economy, and general consumer sentiment. But if you are considering a home or condo sale in 2024, you may want to act quickly as a recent study found the best time to sell real estate is mid-April, specifically the week of April 14th to the 20th.

According to the recent Realtor.com data analysis, this prime time for selling will see higher than average sale prices and lower competition from other sellers on the market. The Spring historically brings a higher buyer demand, and an overall increase in the pace of the market. This means that sellers can potentially expect more views of their property online, more in-person showings, and lower days on market. And while the study found that sale prices tend to peak later in the year, around June, you can expect a higher listing inventory and more pricing competition at that time as well.
