Port Orange Brighthouse Cable Service Problems - Pausing, Freezing, Pixelating

About two weeks ago I noticed a dramatic change in the quality of my television picture. My television screen in my Port Orange home began to freeze, pause, and pixelate often. This seemed like a reception problem and I did not feel that it was any of the cable wiring in my home.

brighthouse cable in port orange floridaSo, I placed a call to the Port Orange Brighthouse Cable Office and set an appointment to get the problem fixed. I was greeted the next day by a very nice man from Brighthouse that spent about 30 minutes in my home trying to disect the problem. During his visit he made a few minor changes and just left. HE DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, but told me that everything was okay and would work fine.

Day Two - I called Brighthouse Cable in Port Orange to arrange for another repair man to visit my house to fix the Port Orange Brighthouse cable problem. This repair guy determined that the problem was outside and that he was going to have maintenance come back and fix it. For some reason, when he left, he did not hook up the wiring correct on the exterior of the home. HE LEFT THE PROPERTY AND THE CABLE AND INTERNET WERE COMPLETELY INOPERABLE.  I then placed another call to Brighthouse Cable and was told that a cable repair guy could not return to the property for 3 hours. 5 hours later ,around 8pm, two serviceman showed up at my home. They fixed the problems left by the earlier repair man, but did not fix the pixeling, pausing, or freezing on the screen.

So, now I've had 4 Brighthouse cable employees in my home and the cable still does not work correctly. I did not get upset and was told by the two gentleman in the evening that the maintenace crew would return the following day to fix the problem. IT TOOK A WEEK FOR THE MAINTENACE CREW TO FINALLY VISIT MY PROPERTY.

Day  8 - I placed another call to ask when my Brighthouse cable problem would be fixed. I was told that the maintance crew had visited the area and fixed the problem. This was not true because I still had major cable issues. After repeated calls to the office, the lead technician came to my home and fixed the problem. It was indeed a reception problem and the freezing, pausing, and pixelating on my television finally stopped.

I can say that all the Port Orange Brighthouse Cable employees and service technicians were very nice. I do hope that these Port Orange cable problems can be fixed more efficiently in the future. I wish I had time to blog about the whole experience.

Please tell me about your Brighthouse Cable experiences in Port Orange. Are you having cable reception problems in your Port Orange home?

We in New Smyrna (ironically, about to move to Port Orange) have been noticing the same problems recently. Tonight, in fact, all channels but the Mexican channel froze for about 15 minutes. Very eerie! It seems to me this is a problem with the cable signal well before it gets to our house.... but I'd sure like to hear from Bright House as to what the problem actually is. Maybe I've seen iIndependence Day one too many times.... AZ

We are having the same problem. It has been over two years and still not fixed. have you had any success?

We live in the Inverness area. Is Brighthouse having a problem all over the state?

my cable problem was fixed and it was not the wiring in my home. it was the signal. i was told that workers had to go around the area and clean "boxes" to help the signal and i noticed a significant improvement once this work was completed. stay persistent and hopefully the cable company will get your problem fixed soon.

yes I live in Ormond Beach and have the same issues, freezing and when the phone rings it kicks me off my wireless internet I have running from the main computer, static calls. I have had several 'qualified tech's" out here but still no good service. Too bad Bright House is the only cable they sure have cornered the market. GRRRRR and I am especially pleased paying so much for so little quality service!!!!

I moved from Orlando to Port Orange recently and if it was not for cable being included in my rent, I would have not went with brighthouse. Even in Orlando I had many issues with them and many other family members did not care for brighthouse as well. I am about to switch services to direct tv and just pay the extra money.

I live in Cocoa florida and have had the freeze, pixeling and a lot of "sorry this channel is currently not available." I have to constantly switch to low def from high def to watch tv. They have been out at least 4 times and changed out boxes 3 times. I tell them i think they are stretching their bandwidth too far, or at least its not just the box as i have the same problem on 2 boxes after they just changed one out 2 days ago. I have to fight every day to get it to accept certain channels like natgeo, science, especially cnbc even some of the british channels. Interesting i didnt have this probelm untill this year 2010 its now july and am considering switching to a dish network. Any comments or suggestions?

Its an everyday thing with Brighthouse, pixelating, freezing, blackouts for over 10 minutes. Add in the fact that we have to endure a gazillion commercials and thousands of repeats just adds insult to injury.

It is a comfort to hear I am not the only one who is having a horrible experience with Brighthouse. I also have the pixelating, freezing and a zzzzzap noise during the shows. Brighthouse has acted like they have never heard of such a thing. I have had 4 service calls so far and still the problem continues. After reading these posts, I think I am just going to switch to Fios.
