Daytona Beach Museum Celebrates Space

The Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach is proud to announce the opening of their newest gallery, Florida Celebrates Space, this Saturday, January 19th. The gallery is the result of a significant collaboration between NASA, The John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC), and the Museum of Arts and Sciences and displays over forty paintings that exemplify the history of American spaceflight. With the recent conclusion of the Space Shuttle area, it is important to look back on the tremendous success and influence that the state, and more specifically the Central Florida area has had on our country. View breathtaking works of art that encompass the entire space program from the original Mercury program in 1958 through present day. Like the initial explorers that came to Florida 500 years ago, the men and women of space exploration charted new discoveries beyond imagination and these triumphs can be seen through the work of such famous artists as Andy Warhol, Annie Leibovitz, Robert Raschenberg, and James Wyeth. This new and exciting exhibits runs through April 28th. For more information on this exhibit or other happenings visit the Museum of Arts and Sciences or call (386)255-0285.
