Daytona Beach Shores Burying Power Lines On A1A
This will be a great enhancement for all of Daytona Beach Shores. A1A will be more appealing visually and this will also reduce the chances of power outages during storms.
From Donald Robinson:
The process will take the overhead utility lines down on both sides of A1A and place them underground. The undergrounding of the utility lines will have two large benefits to the residents of the City. First, the A1A corridor will be more aesthetically pleasing with the absence of overhead utility lines running everywhere. Second, the project will decrease or eliminate the loss of utilities during storms, because the utilities will not be exposed to the elements. The project should reach the area of 3851 S. Atlantic Avenue sometime in late 2009.
The City is asking property owners on the east side of A1A to donate a 10 foot easement for the placement of the overhead utilities underground. The City will repair or replace all landscaping or property that is damaged by the undergrounding process. The City would place the overhead lines under the sidewalk, but there is simply no room. Gas, water, and sewer lines already exist under the sidewalk. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
