One of the featured activities for this event will be “Ponce on a Stamp: from Idea to the Envelope.” Have you ever wondered how a person, place or thing end up featured on a U.S. stamp? Learn about the process of the creation of a stamp, and take the opportunity to place your face on a giant replica stamp commemorating the 1984 stamp of Juan Ponce de Leon. In celebration of Spanish heritage in Florida, we look back to the year 1927 when Mosquito Inlet was renamed to honor the Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon. The lighthouse that also bears his name was completed in 1887.
