Joe's Crab Shack and Daytona Beach Pier

joe's crab shack on the daytona beach pierLast month the historic Daytona Beach Pier reopened after a two and a half year hiatus, sporting a new look and new fun. The 88-year-old pier has now welcomed the quirky atmosphere and delicious taste of Joe’s Crab Shack, a popular seafood chain. The pier had been closed since late 2009 when it had fallen into ill-repair from age and tropical weather. But with a fresh look and the promise of tasty seafood, people have been flocking to the pier non-stop.

Joe’s Crab Shack is a nationwide seafood restaurant that prepares dishes to please almost any palate. Offering heaping steampots of fresh seafood and some of the best crab legs around, it is no surprise that this new Daytona destination has remained busy since opening. Even if you aren’t in the mood for seafood, Joe’s offers delicious “out of water” meals such as a 12oz ribeye and crisp salads made of the freshest ingredients. Joe’s also offers a full liquor bar with many interesting and delicious signature concoctions. Make sure you finish off your meal with a Crabby Apple Crumble or Sea Turtle Sundae and more importantly, make sure you have fun.

Eating seafood is great in its own right but the Daytona Beach Pier wouldn’t be the same without its fishing section. Now open also, there is a large expanse past the restaurant for locals and tourists alike to enjoy for free and cast a line. The fishing area is open from 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. Bring your own pole or rent fishing equipment at the Pier Shop and test your luck at reeling in the big one.

Whether it is for a lazy day of fishing and sun-bathing, a family dinner, or something else in between, the Daytona Beach Pier and Joe’s Crab Shack has something for everyone. So come out and see what all the buzz is about. The friendly staff will be waiting for you.

You might want to note that there is no cost to fish from the pier. I called the number listed for Joe's Crab Shack and they were very kind to double-check for me. That was a nice surprise to learn that is is free as long as you bring your own poles.
