Out of State Buyers Moving to Florida
It’s no secret that the nationwide real estate market has slowed down from the rush we saw in 2021 and 2022, but if a buyer is going to make a move, Florida is still a top choice. A recent study found that while buyers searching to relocate within their state dropped more than 14%, the majority of serious buyers in our current market are actually looking for an out of state move. Rising interest rates and the higher prices created by recent demand have stifled those who were looking to upgrade or even downsize in their own area, but retirees, those that love warm weather, or those who prefer no state income tax are still flocking to Florida homes and condos.
The same study found that nationwide, five of the top ten metros to move to came from our Sunshine State. While the Daytona Beach area isn’t considered a metro, we often piggy-back off some of those cities listed such as Tampa, Orlando and Miami.
And where is everyone moving from when they pack their bags for Florida? You guessed it; the top five include cities in California and New York.
