This will be a “soft opening” for the store with an official grand opening planned for October 4th at 6pm. This latter event will include free food samples, entertainment and a presentation of a donation to the city. Also, BJ's is offering new one-year memberships for $40, which also includes a free second membership card. The regular fee is $50. The normal store hours for the BJ's Port Orange store will be Monday through Saturday, from 9am to 10pm., and Sunday, from 9am to 8pm.

Wawa

As reported in an earlier blog, Wawa Inc. is looking to open a new convenience store/gas stations here in Port Orange, but they are already indicating interest in a second site. Wawa recently signed a ground lease on a 1.85-acre site at the southeast corner of Dunlawton Avenue and Yorktowne Boulevard, next to the new Altamira Village Shopping Center. Wawa is also interested in the property at 1031 Dunlawton Blvd, where the Asian Fusion buffet restaurant is located. Wawa opened its first Florida location in July 2012 and has already built 14 stores between the Orlando and Tampa areas.

The city has hinted at a few more businesses that may be coming to Port Orange soon including a WaWa Convenience Store, a Popeyes Chicken, and Pollo Tropical.

Port Orange keeps growing in leaps and bounds, making it one of the most desirable places to call home in Central Florida. You are probably aware of the current construction of BJ’s Wholesale and LA Fitness at Taylor Rd and Dunlawton Ave bringing all new conveniences to Port Orange residents. Here are a couple other development projects that are proposed or in the works for the pristine city of Port Orange.

The Publix Supermarket on Taylor Road may be expanding. The proposal calls for a demolition of the existing grocery store and three tenant bays and construction of a new 50,000 sq. ft. grocery store on 9.67 acres. This will make grocery shopping more comfortable and convenient for Port Orange residents in the Taylor and Airport Road areas.

This proposed 12,989 sq. ft. restaurant in the Pavilion at Port Orange shopping center is getting closer to becoming a reality. Chuck E. Cheese will be a great location for family outings and childrens birthday parties as they live up to their motto, “where a kid can be a kid!”. Lean more about Chuck E. Cheese
