Port Orange History Lecture Sept 14, 2012
Old Kings Road And Spruce Creek Mound
When: Friday, September 14th, 1:00pm
Where: City's Adult Center Annex, 3738 Halifax Drive, Port Orange
What: Come out and discover some amazing Central Florida history this Friday in Port Orange. Forged from the wilderness by "Gray Eyes," an Indian friend of the Governor of East Florida, the Old King's Road connected St. Augustine with the Dr. Andrew Turnbull colony called the New Smyrna Colony. Dating to the early 1760s, the road runs through Port Orange in two locations, and many of the roads you travel on today were actually part of the Old King's Road! This interesting lecture will leave you inspired by our community’s past and could possibly unveil an unknown history of your Port Orange home location. If you have questions, please call Kent Donahue at 386-506-5522.
