When: Friday, January 10, 1:00pm
Where: Adult Center Annex, 3738 Halifax DriveWhat: Come out for the first Port Orange history lecture of 2014 as we learn more about the historic Dunlawton Sugar Mill. The early beginnings of Port Orange date back to the construction of the Dunlawton Sugar Mill in 1830. Once part of the Dean Planation, the sugar mill’s coquina walls still stand today, even showing the burn marks from an attack during the Second Seminole War. Now just five acres, the property once was part of a larger land holding that sprawled over 995 acres. Did you ever wonder why there are concrete dinosaurs on the property? Attend this exciting event to find out!
