Port Orange Park Upgrades
Port Orange continues to grow our community with the upcoming additions and improvements to the local Skate Park, as well as, one of the most popular Port Orange recreation areas, All Children’s Park off of Spruce Creek Road. At a recent City Council meeting, construction proposals totalling over $300,000 were accepted for these new park facilities.
For the All Children’s Park, Play More West Inc. was the top bidder at $180,000 plus an additional $50,000 for "supplemental features" such as a "splash pad". The expansion is aimed at the preschool ages 2 to 5, though the new playground equipment will fit into the current adventure theme that includes a pirate ship design, complete with rope ladders to an upper deck, as well as carvings of a pirate, turtles, a seahorse, a dolphin, cannon, a treasure chest and much more.
The Skate Park renovations went to top bidder, Team Pain, at a cost of $130,000. This much-needed facelift will fix cracked concrete and worn railings among other improvements. Construction is expected to begin middle to end of May and should last about four months according to city officials.
